Nikki battled a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer for 17 months. Although she fought so hard, with amazing strength, the cancer could not be stopped.

 

During this time we researched trials for new anti-cancer drugs to try and help Nikki to beat this terrible disease. Unfortunately, we found that the funding for brain cancer trials, especially for the rarer types of brain cancer, is very limited in the UK.

 

Brain Tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer research funding in the UK, and this is largely used to fund research into the most common types of brain cancer.

 

In order that UK neuro-oncology research can gain in strength, Brain Tumour Research looks to fund research centres properly so that they can establish laboratory-based brain tumour research which employ experienced and intellectually innovative staff to carry the discipline towards provision of a basis for better outcome in patients unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with any form of brain tumour, independent of age, location or type.
