Story
1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year...
AND...49% of men feel more depressed than they are willing to admit to the people around them, and 45% believe mental health issues can be solved on their own.
The NHS Long Term Plan has pledged that this year 900,000 more people will have access to 'social prescribing' - a form of community support. Giving men an opportunity to access mental health support including:
- Physical exercise
- Walking groups
- Gardening groups
- Learning activities
What better way than to take part in a physical challenge as part of the team for Dorset Mind, which supports these great causes.
I'll be climbing the National Three Peaks and taking part in the challenge of completing this back-to-back!
Honestly, I'm feeling pretty nervous about completing it...but if doing this can contribute towards supporting mental health, and it helps 1 person. It's been worth my inevitable physical pain!
About the three peaks challenge: climbing Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085) with an estimated total walking distance of 26 miles, all in one stint.
I really appreciate your support.
