Story
Earlier this year, my and many others' worlds were rocked when our friend Mike decided to end his life. Many knew that Mike was struggling with depression, but no one expected to lose him in this tragic way.
I believe it was the author Terry Pratchett who first said that a man cannot be forgotten if you continue to say his name. That is why I am running this half marathon; to give me another reason to keep talking about my amazing friend and to raise some more money for a vital cause.
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK. Our goal is a life less miserable for you, your friends, your family and for all men.CALM provides a free and anonymous helpline 0800 58 58 58 and webchat (5pm-12am daily) staffed by trained professionals, bereavement support and a website (www.theCALMzone.net) with inspiring content by men for men, with campaigns tackling stereotypes of masculinity, suicide and male mental health.
