Story
Brad, Gary, Merv & Steve are taking part in the 2023 Baggies Bike
Challenge to raise funds for the Albion Foundation.
This year we take on two challenges:
Our first challenge sees the four of us cycle 140 miles in 3 days, and to make it slightly more challenging we have decided that our route will take us up and over the Derbyshire Peak District - in winter! .
We depart Huddersfield Towns John Smiths Stadium on Thursday March 9th to cycle the 140 miles to the Hawthorns arriving in time for the fixture between the two clubs on Saturday afternoon March 11th.
Our second challenge is even more daunting and sees Gary, Merv & Steve take on an international flavour as the cycle 420 miles in 5 days in June from Paris to the Hawthorns
So why are we doing it:
The Albion Foundations goal is to deliver 10 million hours and make a difference to 100,000 lives, in the next 10 years.
The Albion Foundation runs a number of initiatives in support of the local community, including Alzheimer’s cafes, food parcel deliveries, educational initiatives in schools to help those that are struggling to achieve, mentoring and improving attainment with children in care or foster homes, opening up opportunities in disability sport, running sports initiatives in anti-social hot-spots and supporting sports development for girls. The Foundation went above and beyond during the pandemic: 110,000 food parcels delivered, 10,500 phone calls made by ex-players to the elderly and over 7,000 educational sessions delivered!
