We provide mental health support to children with brain tumours

Story

On 13th October 2024 I will be running the Oxford Half Marathon in support of the amazing Tom's Trust. Tom's Trust is the UK's only charity dedicated to providing mental health support to children and young people with brain tumours, and their families.

As an NHS consultant paediatric neuropsychologist I am only too aware of the limitations of what we can provide to these families with the resources that we have, and how much benefit there could be from additional psychological provision embedded within specialist paediatric neuro-oncology services.

In October 2024 there will be a new clinical psychology post created within our team at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, funded solely by the Tom's Trust. This post will provide additional psychological support to children with brain tumours, and their families, from the point of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

Tom's Trust's mission is to provide psychological support to children with brain tumours and their families in every area of the UK that needs it by 2030. Let's help them do this!
