Story

I love Age UK, I love running,  I love fundraising and I love older people, so I'm running the Marathon to help this AMAZING charity.

There's no single word to convey how Age UK helps and why the charity is so crucial, because getting older isn't simple.  The crushing, devastating, life-changing issues it can bring for some older people, cannot always be summed up in a fundraising friendly soundbite.  Neither is every older person's issue the same, but, what millions have in common, whether lonely, isolated, bereaved, living with dementia, not knowing how to access care, is needing a place to turn.  Having worked at Age UK for over 9 years, I know that that place is Age UK.

So please sponsor me.  Not because 26.2 miles is a long way, but because for many older people, a life spent alone with nowhere to turn is a long life - and every day is a long day, and that's far more challenging than running for 5 hours (although I REALLY hope it doesn't take me that long).

So donate in memory of someone you love.  Or because there are older people who might not have family, friends and connections like you.

We do really good stuff - help us keep it going!

Thank you, Laurie xxx
