How can young adults access natural anti-depressants to build robust minds and bodies?
Botanic Shed be helping a cohort of young adults, members of the Wider Horizons free community to do just that as we help them explore the how to sleep better, feel better and think more clearly.
Our event is titled ‘Creating Balance in your Life by Relating to Nature’ |
At a time when our mental health might seem more threatened than ever, this will be an opportunity to discover and use basic scientific principles of nature and discover what they can do to heal and to teach us. |
As a participant of the event you will also have an opportunity to learn how to deepen you natural intuitive abilities to help you create what you love more effortlessly during these unpredictable times and beyond.
The session will begin with a guided mindful meditation session run by Karuna Priya and former Monk and current Inter-Faith Chaplain at Imperial College.
There will then be a talk from Lara Cowan on ‘How to access natural anti-depressants in nature’ followed by an open discussion about creating new routines to support your mental health going forward.
We will close with a guided intuitive meditation setting an intention to receive guidance on actions that you can take to help you create peace in your life.

Event organisers:
Their ‘School of Nature’ helps people observe and understand nature’s processes to bring balance to
their life and creates content and experiences that educate, inform and inspire people to connect to
nature and natural medicine in order to build their own strength and resilience.
It is run by Lara Cowan a trained Horticulturalist, Horticultural Therapist and regular broadcaster on
BBC Radio, who set up her first business, Grenadine Escape while at University. Along the way she
has also helped develop a mindfulness coaching business with former Monk and Inter-Faith Chaplain
at Imperial College, Karuna Priya, featured in the Financial Times and The Telegraph and volunteered
for the National Garden Scheme.
“This all started when I realized that a connection to nature had been serving me as an antidepressant, helping me through major life traumas and I could see how it also supported my late
Father and my brother through their mental illnesses.”

Wider Horizons is a community platform which organises Transformational Gatherings in Nature for Young Adults, as well as a vibrant programme of ancillary events and weekly Zoom webinars, and a WhatsApp community. Our aim is to support and inspire young adults to feel at peace whilst confidently creating a better world. We inspire young adults (between the ages of 18 and 30) with the knowledge, energy and self-belief to step into the truth of who they are and embrace life with optimism and belief in the limitless potential that we all possess. We provide opportunities for them to learn about the mysteries of life from some of the greatest minds and experts in their fields around all things creative, healing, mystical and conscious. By building an inspiring and supportive community, we are helping to ensure that young adults with an interest in spirituality, environmental and social issues dont feel isolated.
