DHL Bike Challenge Team 2023 · 27 June 2023
"First of all, I have to say that I am an athlete in my soul, so there have been no doubts in taking part physically. My first thoughts about
this journey were about meeting new people, seeing new places and the adventure itself. But what really made me feel like I must be there is the goal of this trip – raising money for the very best reason.
Unfortunately, cancer is being part of our lives and therefore it is necessary to support challenges focused on health issues, make them visible and make people aware of the importance of contributing morally or financially to the researches. So, I believe that I can contribute as a member of this challenging AS ONE team in the very best way I am able to!"

The initiative is organized by Ton Verleg (DHL Express) and Koen Keuren (DHL Freight). Ton and Koen are both based in Bonn, Germany and passionate cyclists themselves, as well as regular fundraisers. This year, they are giving others the chance to join them on a mission to raise EUR 20,000 for brain cancer research. The inspiration for the project was the death of our former DHL Express colleague David Wilson, who battled brain cancer for seven years following his 2015 diagnosis. To raise this money, 20 DHL colleagues will cycle 460 kilometers over a period of four days, from Vienna to Prague. It will be a picturesque ride over smooth terrain, with overnight accommodation provided in between, sponsored by DHL Express. The tour is managed by a professional organization who will provide guiding riders and a van to take luggage from stop to stop.FUNDRAISING GOAL- Each participant needs to commit their efforts to raise EUR 1,000 by 31 October 2023. You can support now your colleagues who will be riding against cancer more than 100km per day, by donating today! Every euro will make a difference! Make part of it! The money will be donated to two organizations: Worldwide Cancer Research (UK) and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (Toronto, Canada), where our colleague David Wilson received treatment in the final years of his life.
