Story
In July we were given the devastating news that our baby had no heartbeat, at 36 weeks pregnant, our baby had died. At Scarborough hospital we were given a private room to talk to the consultant about the next steps, I gave birth in that same room, to a little boy. I was very fortunate to be able to spend time with him, my husband was allowed to stay with me throughout this time, for us it meant our families could come and visit and grieve openly with us. The midwives who looked after us were specialised bereavement midwives and guided us through this difficult time. We have been able to contact them and see them after, allowing us the time to talk openly, ask questions about what happened and be further guided on the ongoing process. Our little boy was well cared for and the hospital provided all the services needed for a funeral.
I am running 5 miles to ensure this service keeps doing an excellent job. No one ever wants to be in our shoes but it does happen and by raising this money, maybe we can help those families as much as we have been helped.
This money will be donated to the maternity bereavement services at Scarborough hospital and in support of the butterfly appeal.
