Story
As many of you know, I love riding my bike. Many of you also know that my family lost our son, Jonathan to SIDS in March of 2019. In the time since then, biking has provided me with an outlet for my grief. Time outdoors in the peace and quiet on my solo rides has provided me with time and space to think about life and feel my feelings. Riding with buddies, and having adventures has given me something to look forward to during tough moments. I wear a lot of pink and blue clothing, the same colors as the SIDS and infant loss awareness ribbon as a tribute to Jonathan. I'm fundraising and training for this 100 mile ride in memory of my son.
I've been in dedicated training for this ride since November 2022, I have lost weight, gained strength, and built endurance. I was waiting to go public with my ride until I felt like I was sure that I was ready for it. This spring I rode 70 miles with 3 rest stops and felt ok at the end of it. Twice this summer, I rode 50 miles nonstop eating only the food in my pockets and felt good afterwards and resumed training the next day both times. These rides make me feel like I'm ready to ride 100 miles at the end of September. The ride has 4 supported rest stops, so I will be eating and resting through out the day, and never really riding too far beyond my comfort level. This confidence was hard earned, so I'm thrilled to share that I'm ready to ride, and ask for your financial support.
Thanks for your Support,
Adam
About the Sacramento Children's Home Crisis Nursery:
The Sacramento Children's Home Crisis Nursery is the only program of its kind in Sacramento County and directly prevents child abuse and neglect by supporting families with small children at times of crisis. The nursery allows parents to bring their children ages newborn to five for emergency hourly or overnight care during difficult times, with the goal of keeping families together and reducing the number of children entering foster care. To care for our community's most vulnerable children, we rely on support from community members like you. By donating, you empower us to provide a safe haven for children throughout the Sacramento area, offering respite to parents during times of crisis, and building a strong support system for the future. Your support helps provide a safe place to stay kids need it most.
