Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is David Boettger and I am a Junior at Dearborn High School. Earlier this school year, Mohamad Osman, an integral part of our DHS community was diagnosed with late-stage Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I remember thinking to myself that this was unreal. How could someone so young with his whole life ahead of him be diagnosed with cancer? Surely he did not deserve this. I immediately began to think what I could do to help.
I met Mohamad at long distance track practice 2 years ago. He is one of the kindest most genuine people that I have ever encountered. His competitiveness drives him. He would always push the pace and go the extra mile in practice. Even when things go wrong, he always has a smile on his face. His positivity is contagious. And I have no doubt in my mind that he will overcome any obstacle in his path, even cancer.
A few weeks ago, I decided that I would run the Martian Half Marathon to honor Mohamad's fighting spirit. The money that we raise will help people like Mohamad. He inspired me to be my best even when it would have been easier to give up. I am extremely thankful to have the opportunity to show how appreciative I am of Mohamad Osman.
As for my training, I am up to 10.2 miles in 90 minutes. My goal is to complete the race in under 2 hours.
I am truly blessed to be able to run for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. At $250, I am going to shave my head for the cause. It would really make my day if you choose to support my fundraiser and circulate it on social media. Every dollar goes to invaluable research to find a cure. All raised funds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
I greatly appreciate what you have done to support my endeavor.
Sincerely,
David Boettger
