We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the weekend of 4/5 August 2012 I will be participating as a SOLO Rider in the Sleepless in the Saddle 24hr Mountain Bike Endurance Event. Although it will be a personal challenge, I would also like to raise the awareness and hopefully some money for the Cancer Research UK charity.

Cancer affects so many people in so many different ways. This terrible disease has affected some of my friends and family, but HOPEFULLY in time and with the continuing work that Cancer Research UK embarks upon…..has the saying goes ‘together we can beat it’.

A couple of events have inspired me to take up this challenge for this charity. I recently I witnessed the fantastic Race for Life event in Telford where my wife and a group of her friends and work colleagues donned their pink gear and completed their own distance battle in extreme heat…all finishing with faces the same colour as their outfits!!

I've aslo been inspired by the way a close friend (Tracey Probert) has so openly discussed and positively battled with cervical cancer over the past couple of years, which has recently resulted in Tracey being given the fantastic ‘all clear’ news!!!

If you could spare the time to visit http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/ and if you would like to sponsor me for this event, it would greatly be appreciated.

Many Thanks
Paul (Bode)
