Story
Dear friends,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please consider donating what you can to this excellent cause. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and the charity I am fundraising for needs our support.
Pancreatic cancer is arguably the worst of all cancers. Post diagnosis, survival rates beyond 5 years is less than 3%. Survival rates beyond 1 year is roughly 21%. Think about that for a second. If you or one of your loved ones is tragically diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, there is a 79% chance you not survive a year, and a 97% chance you will not survive 5.
What's worse is that whilst other cancers have seen massive improvements in survival rates, the survival rates of pancreatic cancer is still the same as it was in the 1970's.
Whilst one factor is the difficulty in detecting this cancer before it is too late (it is asymptomatic), another is undoubtedly that this cancer does not have the profile, awareness and support of other cancers.
Throughout the month of November, my marvellous moustache, normally camouflaged within my beard unless for special occasions, shall be on display for your viewing pleasure. I'll be posting regular pics for you pogonophiles (or those not horrified by my ugly mug).
I've set a modest target for us all to reach, and, if we do reach it, I pledge to have my beard shaved. I'll even live stream this tragic event (I'm very attached to my beard, literally and figuratively).
If we meet the target quickly, I will set a new target with a new, more "painful" hair removal pledge. But to get there, I first need your support.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and thank you for all your support. The following footnote is brought to you by JustGiving....
