Story
Those who knew my Dad, Robert Wardle (aka BSA Bobby, Good Looking Bobby (self-titled)) will know that he passed away March 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
We had planned to hold a memory walk for him in March of this year just as the lockdown was put in place. I didn't want to wait too long to try to raise money for MacMillan for two reasons.
Firstly the help they gave my family was amazing. Until you have been there and seen just how good they are you cannot understand the impact they have.
Secondly the lockdown has meant that charities are really struggling with their normal fundraising efforts. More than ever I'd like to raise money to help them.
With the exception of wherever the grandkids were my Dad's two favourite places were his caravan in Barnard Castle and the Isle of Man.
So I have decided to (virtually) ride via Barnard Castle to Heysham on the West coast, across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man, do a lap of the TT race course, back across the sea and then back home.
I am doing this lap as a lap go honour for my Dad.
All in all it will be 396 miles.
Of course I cannot really do this as I am shielding and having been seriously ill myself for the last year it would probably kill me. So instead I will attack the distance in many parts cycling around Barnard Castle.
I'd love to raise at least a pound for each mile that I do and thank you in advance for any donations made at all no matter how big or small.
