Story
In April 2020 just at the beginning of Covid I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer, and I am at present on what they call the 'Active Surveillance'
So I signed up to walk the Camino de Santiago? Well, an occurrence such as this in your life reminded both my wife Pat and myself of friends and family we have lost to various cancers and the fantastic support they received at no charge from Hospice's in general but in particular our St Wilfrid's.
Why the Camino? I enjoy walking especially with family and friends so when the Hospice announced that one of their forthcoming Challenges for 2023 would be The Camino de Santiago de Compostela I did not hesitate and signed up. The walk or pilgrimage what ever you may wish to call it is over 5 days and covers last 100k of the "French Way" from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela.
The Hospice fundraising target is £2,300, but my personal target was £3000, why 'was'? Well we reached that number with 5 weeks to go thanks to all of you fantastic people however why stop now, I feel we all could do more for the Hospice. so, I set us a new challenge of reaching £3500. To date in June we are nearly there and so on we go.
For all charities these have been extremely difficult times with donations falling and overheads increasing. Please help by donating to my JustGiving page/account, or by cheque or cash. Every donation goes directly to the Hospice and will be shown on my JustGiving page. Please do not tick the Gift Aid Box as for some HMRC technical reason donating via a third party i.e justgiving, does not qualify!
Thank You for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and in supporting a cause which means so much to so many people, possibly yourself.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
