As of July 12th I officially enter the world of "old fartdom".

I'm really pleased that some of you are able to come & celebrate/commiserate at a party on July 10th. Many have also been kind enough to ask if I wanted a pressie or some alcoholic tipple. Whilst a few drops of the finest burgundy have been known to pass my lips (usually followed by a bottle or two of cheap red stuff) - I am sure that a donation to Charity would be far more deserving.

I'm hoping to run the London Marathon again in 2011 - but haven't got a place yet. So I'm trying to bribe the good people at Cancer Research for a place by not only promising to raise vast amounts of filthy lucre for the run - but also by raising a few quid in advance.

In 2009 I raised over £1800 for the Cancer Research. I am sure that this money was put to good use. Over the last year the dreaded "Big C" has touched the lives of friends, I'm sure that you will also all know others that have been affected. My hope is that raising some funds will help in the struggle to find cures, or help alleviate some of the pain that this disease causes.

So please donate some money to Cancer Research UK, in celebration of my impending dotage. Mind you - don't forget that I'll be badgering you again for sponsorship for the London Marathon [if I get a place] - however it might be for Water Aid, or Help for Heroes - if the nice people at Cancer Research don't stump up for a place!
