Fundraising for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
THANK YOU to all those who have given so far. This really can have a fabulous impact for present and future Aplastic Anaemia patients! Your donations are greatly appreciated. Let's see if we can break the £1300 barrier: £100 for every mile!!
My lovely wife, El, gave me a Christmas present with a difference last year... entry to the Reading Half Marathon! "You've always been saying you want to do a marathon one day", she said! Although it seemed daunting at first, I must say I'm really enjoying the training now and am looking forward to joining many others on 21st March for my first ever half marathon.
Doing this run provides me with a perfect opportunity to help raise money for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust (AAT), the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting sufferers of Aplastic Anaemia.
You may be aware that my sister-in-law, Lucy, was diagnosed with this disease in April 2009. She has been terribly ill for a long time and received a bone marrow donation from El in May. Lucy has had many ups and downs, but is making good progress in her recovery now. She has been given tremendous support by the staff at the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, where it is based. The excellent treatment and care that she has received would not have been possible had it not been for the research and investment that has been provided by the AAT in the past. There is still much work to be done!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you!
