Story
In Global Markets, our growth is underpinned by both performance and purpose. It’s only by doing business with a broader set of metrics, including focusing on our social responsibility and contributing to a better society, that we can build a business fit for the long term.
On September 27-28 we’ll be hosting the Ultimate Treadmill Challenge in the 10HA reception area starting at noon; a non-stop, around-the-clock fundraiser to support our charity partners. Employees from PCM will take on the challenge by walking, jogging or running in 15 minute slots over the 24 hour period in support of Refettorio Felix, a charity that many staff members in this business area have supported through their volunteer day.
Members of the Global Markets executive board have sponsored two prizes:
1. The team which raises the most money will receive an additional booster donation to their fundraising charity.
2. The team which covers the largest distance will receive an additional booster donation to their charity of £15 per mile during daylight hours, and £30 per mile between the hours of 10pm and 6am.
Get involved and get fundraising!
Our Fundraising Support: Refettorio Felix
Refettorio Felix the lunch based project based at St Cuthbert's charity in Earl's Court. Through its shared meal experience, the project's mission is to promote dignity and improve the well-being of marginalised and vulnerable individuals while tackling issues of food waste and food poverty. Each weekday lunchtime, 60-80 guests including rough-sleepers, the homeless, those with mental health issues and older people enjoy a delicious three-course meal created entirely from surplus ingredients that have been discarded from supermarkets and other retailers. Guest chefs are invited to cook at the community kitchen, helping to raise awareness about the project and its mission, while volunteers come to serve food and socialise with the guests.
Your contribution will make a big impact to this small but impactful project, helping the Refettorio keep its guests well-nourished as well as ensuring this pioneering project remains sustainable.
- £5 allows the Refettorio to offer breakfast and a warm tea or coffee to every rough sleep and homeless person for one day
- £15 will help the Refettorio offer a hot shower, clean clothes and washing facilities to homeless and rough sleepers for 1 day free of charge
- £20 pays for a mental health worker to deliver one-to-one support to someone with complex needs
- £50 provides fresh ingredients and recipe materials for the Refettorio's culinary skills programme that offers training to those at risk of, or experiencing homelessness
- £250 pays for 1 vulnerable person to undertake a life-changing 7-week culinary skills training course, gaining skills and confidence to reintegrate into working life.
