Story
5k of mud. 9 office workers. 13 of the UK's toughest obstacles.
We are putting ourselves through it to raise enough money to donate an Abi Cold Cot to a hospital that doesn't have one. Why is a cold cot so important?
15 babies are either stillborn or die a neonatal death every single day in the United Kingdom
Despite this shocking statistic, many hospitals remain ill prepared to deal with these events. An Abi Cold Cot enables parents and family to spend more time with their baby after stillbirth.
Please read Sam’s story below to find out why this is a very personal cause to us:
On the 19th January 2019 at 10.12pm, my partner Tara delivered our beautiful baby girl Mimi Matharu. The birth of my daughter should have been the happiest moment of my life but unlike most parents, Tara and I never got the chance to hear her first cry of breath, watch her open her eyes or feel her grip around our fingers. We were denied those moments that every parent-to-be dreams of.
Thanks to the hospital having an Abi Cold Cot, we were able to spend a few precious days with Mimi, making memories that will last a lifetime. We had the chance to bath her, read her bedtime stories and cuddle her for hours on end. In our darkest moments, it’s these memories that keep us going.
It goes beyond belief to think that other parents who suffer the same devastating loss are then denied the opportunity to spend any time with their child, due to a simple lack of equipment.
Your donations will help us purchase an Abi Cold Cot for a hospital in need and give bereaved parents the chance to make their own memories as a family.
