WHY ARE WE DOING IT?
We're participating in the Great Green Walk to raise awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity and to support Tree Aid in their mission to grow millions of trees and protect huge areas of natural habitats across the drylands of Africa.
WHY IS BIODIVERSITY IMPORTANT?
Biodiversity provides us with food, fuel, shelter and medicine and provides crucial services such as pollination, climate regulation and helps to control pests.
However, global populations of mammals, birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles have fallen by 68%, on average, between 1970 and 2016 and today, 1 million animal and plant species are threatened with extinction
We need to protect biodiversity to ensure our survival.
