We release children from poverty to fulfil their God given potential.

Story

In the aftermath and devastation of the earthquake in Haiti, Compassion UK CEO, Ian Hamilton, and LemonAid Director, Justin Dowds, will climb Mount Kilimanjaro in June 2010 to raise £250,000 to rebuild the only hospital on Haiti's impoverished La Gonave island.

The need for a hospital on La Gonave, is vital to serve the growing population. The current facilities are worse than inadequate and it is unthinkable that these people have to travel miles to a hospital that may not be able to treat them adequately, or even allow them to survive.

The team climbing , would like to raise £250,000 to build a state-of-the-art hospital for the people of La Gonave and rebuild lives in Haiti.

Work is already under way but we need your help.

By donating to Blood Sweat and Compassion, you will be enabling the people of La Gonave the vital medical care they need – the kind we take for granted.

Here's an idea of what your giving could provide:

£10 = daily wage for a nurse

£11 = 2sqm of concrete blocks for a wall (at 70p per block)

£15  = 1sqm of ceramic floor tiles

£20 = daily wage for a doctor

£20 = Linen set for a hospital bed

£50 = Roof circulation fan

£60 = Supply and fit a sink for hospital ward

£150 = 1 Solar Panel (300 needed)

£500 = Finish off a ward room in plaster

£600 = 1 Hospital bed incl mattress (33 needed for the main ward)

£75,000 = New X-Ray Machine

This report was written before the earthquake that devastated the nation of Haiti. The Wesleyan hospital is now in ruins and is in desperate need of rebuilding. Work must begin urgently. Currently a make shift tent is all that stands to provide the vital emergency assistance needed to meet the growing needs of the critically injured. The need for a secure, stable and well-equipped hospital is more vital than ever before.
