Story
Welcome to the Blood Cancer United page, We are a team running to beat blood cancer.
Team Members: Shelly Barker, Kathryn Davies, Julia Griffith, Charlotte Hancock, Douglas Hancock, Nicola, Houghton, Karen Ingham, David Lauder, Keri Mcdonald, Will Rice, Nora Youngs.
The team is running the Leeds 10K Sunday 5th September and following week I will run the Great North Run.
Many of the team members work at the Department of Haematology, Leeds St James's University Hospital. Affectionatly called Jimmy's.
Special thanks to Keri McDonald, who helped get her colleagues involved. I am so grateful to every team member for running. Two of them have never run before!
This team is dedicated to the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Haematology Department and to anyone who has been affected with blood cancer, either as a patient, friend, or relative.
Why your support will mean so much: Blood cancer is the third biggest cancer killer. Great progress has been made with new treatments (speaking personally, I would not be here without them). But there is still a long way to go and further funding for research is needed.
We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
