We provide palliative and end of life care to people with a life-limiting illness

Story

As a child your parents seem brave, strong and fearless. Capable of overcoming any challenge. Then in 2009 we found out that Dad has leukaemia which brought the painful reality home that this simply isn't true.

From that awful day the world belonging to my parents and I was thrown into turmoil as our lives changed.  As a very close family we have had to learn to live with fear and to be brave in order to overcome the challenges that lay ahead in Dad's daily battles to fight this awful illness.

When i heard of the abseil it seemed like a great opportunity to face up to some of my own fears about heights.Whilst I know this is of no comparison to Dad's experiences it is still about facing a challenge and being brave.

Through undertaking the challenge I will raise money for the Rowan's Hospice which is a fantastic local charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.

Whilst we as a family will hopefully never have a need to use the hospice, our hearts touch those who do and have done and we know just how vital the services it offers to patients and their families are.

Self funded, The Rowans costs £4.8 million a year to run!! So please, if you can, help me to raise my target and contribute towards its amazing work whilst supporting me in my descent!  Any amount however small counts!! Or just pop along to give me a cheer on 12th july!

Many, many thanx,

Love and hugs

Claire
