Hello and thank you for visiting Joe and Brittany's fundraising page.
We are running the 2009 Flora London Marathon for Bliss, the special care baby charity.
One in every eight babies in the UK is born premature or sick. That's 82,000 babies every year, of which 22,000 need intensive care, often for many weeks or even months.
Our friends Adam and Vicky had their little baby boy, Ethan George Luis Parsons, on September 28th, 2008. Ethan was born 12 weeks early and weighed just 2lb 9oz. But thanks to some amazing special care unit doctors and nurses and the huge support provided by Bliss, Ethan was allowed home in December, giving Adam and Vicky the best Christmas present ever.
The vital care that premature and sick babies receive after birth can have a profound impact on the rest of their lives. And for families struggling to cope with having a baby in special care, this will be one of the most difficult, emotional and stressful times of their lives.
So please dig deep and sponsor Joe and Brittany now! xxx
Bliss was established 30 years ago and continues to champion the care of our most vulnerable babies and their families. It is the only national organisation dedicated to improving the survival and long-term quality of life for babies born too soon, too small or too sick to cope on their own.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor us: BLISS gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
