Story
Soldiers from B Squadron, The Royal Lancers are currently deployed supporting the COVID response efforts in Greater Manchester.
The Squadron want to support the local community outside of their COVID duties. Broughton House, as with so many other homes, has been hit really badly by the pandemic.
B Squadron want to help this situation by raising money and morale. The troops both deployed in Bolton and at home in Catterick will aim to run a cumulative 2,200 Km representing the distance to the site of the Battle of Blenheim and back to Catterick Garrison. This will be done in their own time, individually or in pairs, in line with the current Government guidelines on exercising outdoors.
Blenheim is the earliest battle honour of the Regiment (1704) and saw the 5th Royal Irish Dragoons (later Lancers) fight under the Duke of Marlborough, there and throughout the War of Spanish Succession.

Keen to raise morale in the care home, the team will look to Zoom call residents over the duration of the event. The aim is to widen our understanding of those who have gone before us, and to give the residents a chance to revisit fond memories of their time in the Armed Forces.
