In 2015 I was climbing Mt Everest when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on April 25th killing over 9000 people across the region, including many climbers in Base Camp 1000m below us.
The entire country was ravaged with more than 740,000 homes damaged or destroyed. Less than a month later on the 12th of May 2015, there was a 7.3 magnitude aftershock which threw the country back into turmoil.
When I decided to return to climb Mt Everest in 2017 I vowed to help raise some funds for the people of Nepal who are still trying to recover from this devastating series of events.
The Juniper Trust began by supporting small sustainable projects in Nepal 20 years ago to help the poorest communities and particularly children. It has now expanded to support similar projects around the globe. The charity is run by volunteers, 100% of donations go to projects, no overheads!
