Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is the first of my four swims and Iain Renfrew will be taking a dip in Loch Lomond with me (although he is expecting the birth of his 2nd child a few days later, thanks Mrs R). We will be swimming the width of this freezing cold Loch just where the melted snow from Ben Lomond runs into the loch. The swim from Inverbeg to Rowardennan is a little over a mile but due to the time constraints we will be swimming most of it in the dark.
Jason Gatherer was more of a brother than a college, my grasp of the English language doesn't begin to describe how good a police officer and friend he was to me. The last charity challenge I undertook Jason helped with every stage from official photographer to stopping traffic off duty to allow us a clear cycle back to Ibrox. I think of him and miss him every day.
Those who knew him will understand the sense of injustice that he was snatched away so suddenly and without any explanation. He left behind a beautiful daughter and heartbroken wife. His wife is totally supportive of the choice of this charity as she know how proud Jason was to serve the people of Strathclyde and how much he would like to know that money raised in his memory was going to help families dealing with the lose.
Nothing will bring Jason back to his family but I know they will find comfort that by me doing this challenge in his memory his is helping other people even after his death.
