Story

The Blades are 'Bombs Away' for the RAF Benevolent Fund's Hardest Day Challenge 2021

Although the Blades' aerobatic team are normally all about team work - this challenge pitches the accuracy skills of the pilots against each other, in support of a very worthy cause.

Last year the team completed 80 formation 'Twinkle Rolls' an outstanding feat to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain's hardest day. This year the team are swapping out their high-performance Extra 300s to fly the beautifully retro Tiger Moth, a  RAF trainer from the 1930's that prepared so many WWII pilots for flight.

As well as flying the Tiger Moths, the pilots will hone their accuracy skills and launch flour bombs at 80cm targets placed on the grass at Sywell Aerodrome. Aiming for the centre-heart of the RAF Benevolent Fund's roundel, the most accurate pilot will win the prestigious bragging rights over their team mates - but who will it be?

Please donate and predict if Andy, Kirsty, Mike 'Lingy' or James 'McZ' will be the winning pilot in the notes section. To help decide who you think the most accurate pilot will be read more about the pilots here:

The Hardest Day was an air battle fought on 18 August 1940 during the Battle of Britain between the Luftwaffe and the RAF. It was one of the largest aerial engagements in history and both sides suffered heavy losses.
