BladeRoom Spring Walk, 25 March 2022
On Feb 24, 2022, in an unprovoked act of aggression Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Thousands of Ukrainians lost their lives in the fight, millions fled their homes. We're fundraising to offer relief to those suffering or in danger.

Story

We have organised a 34 kilometre walk along the Cotswold Way.The walk takes place on Friday 25th March, with 30 members of staff from BladeRoom and ModuleCo taking part. The day will begin bright and early, setting off from the Painswick Beacon at 7am, crossing Coopers Hill and Crickley Hill, following the route all the way to the Rising Sun Hotel on Cleeve Hill for a well earned beer and a bite to eat. It will be quite the challenge, even for the avid walkers amongst us. The route will take 10 hours, allowing for a few breaks and stopping for lunch, with a total elevation gain over 3,000 feet and the average person burning approximately 2,000 calories in the process.

Our team wanted the walk to be more than a day out of the office,

using it to fundraise in support of the Ukraine War Crisis Appeal. Like
many of us, they have been deeply moved by the recent events in Ukraine and are asking for small donations to help support those who have been worst affected by the conflict which has caused a humanitarian crisis in  the country.

The Ukraine War Crisis Appeal will use the funds raised to procure medicines and medical equipment from UK and European suppliers. Donations to the charity have already been used to purchase trauma treatment packages, and the list of others essentials to be supplied is growing rapidly.

Donations have already been used to purchase trauma treatment packages, and the list of others essentials to be supplied is growing rapidly.A team of volunteers is currently liaising with the Ukrainian national healthcare system and verified local NGOs on the one side, and with suppliers that can address these needs on the other side. The current focus is on first aid. Critical supplies to be secured at the next stage include portable ventilators, patient monitors, defibrillators, ultrasound diagnostic devices, first aid kits and emergency surgery equipment.Important: you can use GiftAid if you're a UK taxpayer, which will be added to your donation!
