Story
I've no idea how I ever got roped into participating in this, let alone organising it but five years later and over £110,000 raised for Joseph's Goal, here we are again. But where is here? In this case, it is Blackpool, we will set off on Friday morning from Wigan and arrive on the Fylde Coast on Saturday lunchtime.
The walking bit is hard, but not as tricky as trying to contain over 50 Wiganers and assorted hangers on and get them to continuously put one foot in front of the other, without getting lost (looking at you here P. Kendrick) come and go at the right time, keep them out of the pub and just generally fulfil the VERY SIMPLE requirements I ask of them. Herding cats < Herding Wiganers.
Still, when you've got the patience of a saint like me, and never, ever worry about even the slightest thing at all, it all somehow falls into place. Seriously, it is a team effort and everyone who participates, helps and donates to these events is a remarkable individual, giving up their time and energy for a great cause.
I am proud to be an ambassador for Joseph's Goal and to play a part in fund raising in a smaller charity that often gets overlooked but WILL save countless children's lives in the future. It is getting closer, for Joseph and thousands of babies and children yet to be born. If it was your child, you'd want to do something and we are all thankful for the opportunity that life has given us to give a bit back.
Here's hoping that 2023 sees us take another big step towards Joseph's Goal. Well, about 100,000 each this particular weekend....
