We need your help to stop men dying too young.

Story

A Mo Story...

About 5.5 years ago, when I was doing my Masters, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and the diagnosis came as a shock. It was like a nightmare from which I could not wake up.

The first 2-3 years after diagnosis I could hardly sleep and my doctor advised me to talk. But I didn't want to, my anger was still too great, and I kept asking myself, "Why did I get this? What did I do wrong?"

It took me 3 years to talk about it openly. The shame was too great at first. I realised how good it was for me to finally talk about it. I am grateful for my wonderful family, friends and partner who have supported me through this time and continue to support me on every level. I am grateful to my doctors and I am grateful for the treatment and the information that I received back then.

I wish that we all have the strength to talk about cancer, that everyone can find a place of refuge and talk to someone who has been diagnosed or who can help and educate others.

That is why I support the Movember Movement / Foundation. Movember gives a face to the most common cancers affecting men. They're helping people who have been diagnosed, providing the need to know if you've been diagnosed, raising money for some incredible projects and giving a voice to all the Mo's, Bro's and Sis's out there. And this is just a snapshot of their work.

About the Movement

Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis, yet it’s rarely talked about. Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent. We are the leading charity changing the face of men’s health. We know what works for men – and what doesn’t.

Prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention – we’re taking them all on.

Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, and shaking up men’s health research.
