Story
Back in 2020 I was all ready to run the London Marathon, the first and only marathon event of my life! Having been running for most days for most of my adult life at a slow and steady pace, largely unimpressive but at least consistent, I finally decided to do something useful with my running - and then Covid struck. Virgin Money closed their fundraising platform and though I have transferred to just giving instead so original donations are recorded (£2,383 offline) it's a shame you can't read the wonderful messages from friends and family posted in 2020. Now after some fun fundraising events (involving Karaoke and cake) one cancellation and one delay, my trainers are finally getting into long runs again and I would love your support.
Mencap is a charity that is very close to my heart. My gallery picture shows me with someone very important in my life; my big brother Simeon. Sim lives with learning disabilities and cerebral palsy and makes me proud every day. As a family we spoke to Sim pretty much every day of lockdown and we were in awe of how he coped, especially his kindness towards others and his concern for the world. Many disabled people don't get the chances in life that other people take for granted. Mencap seeks to change that every single day. So every step I take (even when everything in me wants to stop running) will be for them and people like Simeon, hoping that my efforts with your support create opportunities that make life better and more fulfilling every day. Thank you!
