Hackney Half Marathon 2023 · 21 May 2023 ·

The Ben Kinsella Trust is an educational charity set up following the tragic murder of Ben aged 16 in 2008. Our mission is to use the true and powerful story of Ben Kinsella to educate young people about the consequences of choices, so they stay safe and away from crime.

Story

I'll be running this year's Hackney Half Marathon on behalf of The Ben Kinsella Trust - which was set up around 15 years ago after Ben was brutally murdered by 3 cruel young men carrying knives. Ben had a bright future in front of him and that was all brought to an abrupt end because of knife crime. Though I am doing this for Ben, I am also doing this for future generations, as knife crime is still prevalent today claiming the lives of many young people. The number of people killed with a knife in England and Wales in 2021/22 was the highest on record for 76 years  and one of the hardest pills to swallow is how young these victims are, 37 children aged just 17 or younger were murdered with a knife or sharp object in 2022. As the Hackney Half takes place during Knife Crime Awareness Week (15-21 May 2023) I would really appreciate it if you could make a donation which is affordable for you so the Ben Kinsella Trust can continue their mission and ensure the next generation have a better chance of fighting knife crime.

One last thing, if you can't donate, at least read Ben's story: https://benkinsella.org.uk/bens-story/
let this be a reminder  that not all youth's who are murdered by knives are involved in gangs, Ben was an innocent boy who was out celebrating the end of his GCSE's, he had so much to look forward to but in an entirely unprovoked attack, they stabbed him to death.
