Story
Bill McLaren was a man who represented all that is best about rugby union. He was known as “The Voice of Rugby” not just because of the beauty of his tone and the delight of his imaginative phrasing, but because he portrayed our game as we would always wish it to be. With the support of his family, a Foundation was set-up in Bill's name.
The hospitality and charity sectors in particular have been hit very hard during the pandemic. Our charity relies heavily on hosting lunches and dinners to raise funds. Sadly, we have reluctantly had to take the decision to down size our charity with immediate effect until "normality" returns and a vaccine found.
The charity wishes to thank everyone for their support and generosity over the last 10 years, where with your help we have given over £1.1million in good causes. We hope once solutions are found to this dreadful pandemic that we can continue to promote the values that Bill McLaren held dear in the years to come.
We plan to raise funds over the next 12 months or longer, to offset our reduced costs and when possible provide grants for good causes. We hope to do this through online donations and sales of memorabilia including Bill's Big Sheets for a special gift or to a club looking to raise funds.
We'd be extremely grateful for any support that you can now give.
