Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We made it - all 10 miles! If only just in the ''Kenyan'' weather! So far we've raised nearly £500 - and we're so grateful to all our donors - thank you. A bonus was that Rev Dr Stephen Kanyaru M'Impwii and his wife Mercy had been staying with us, and Mercy was able to meet us at the end of the ramble and get us our cups of tea - a Kenyan welcome to match the weather. The clare foundation organisers made sure we had a lovely piecs of lemon drizzle cake 'to replace the energy we'd used'. Not good for the diet, but very welcome and tasty!
As part of the 10th anniversary of the Chiltern Way, The Clare Foundation has joined with The Chiltern Society to set up The Red Kite Ramble - two sponsored walks through the Chilterns (one 5 miles the other 10 miles in distance) starting and finishing at the Foundation's Saunderton site. We're joining the walk and intend doing 10 miles - so come on friends, sponsor us to do 20 miles between us and help raise money for The Karibuni Trust which supports Kenyan projects working with children from the streets and slums in Kenya - children with next to nothing, where walks are not done 'just for fun', but with a purpose - to collect water, look after the goats, scavenge for food and get to school, sometimes miles away. We were there with the children just a few weeks ago and they are the ones who inspired us to get our boots on and do something for them! A small amount of money goes a long way in Kenya, but Karibuni needs a lot to continue feeding, educating, loving, clothing and providing health care for the 1,300 children we support in various ways. £150 will feed a child for a year; £250 sees a child through a year at Secondary School - please sponsor us generously for the children. You can donate directly to us by contacting us or by donating through JustGiving which is simple, fast and totally secure.
