Story
Hi, my name is Jaya O’Neill and I’ve been living and working in the UK for 6-ish years. Like it did for so many people Covid U-turned my life. Consequently I’ve decided it’s time for me to head home to Dunedin, in lovely Aotearoa, New Zealand.
As an adventurous spirit trying to be as environmentally conscious as possible, I chose to cycle from England to New Zealand.
I found out about bees abroad and was immediately drawn to their ethos for empowering remote beekeeping communities, and how beekeeping can be used as a farming technique to help combat the climate crisis.
As a beekeeper myself I’m passionate about bees and their people, so I want to raise money and awareness for Bees Abroad on my journey.
Fuelled by the delicious cuisine of the countries I’ll be travelling through, I will be visiting as many different beekeeping communities as I can, learning and sharing ideas and different techniques on working with bees as a sustainable farming and economic resource. Bees Abroad will be able to give support to these communities through what I’ve learnt and the money I’ve raised.
My journey will begin on the 22nd of September, please Bee part of the adventure with me on Instagram @bikingforbees and on YouTube.com/bikingforbees
All donation go dircetly to Bees Abroad, I am funding my travel personally.
Thanks for your donation!
