We refurbish second hand bikes to donate to refugees

Story

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read through my donation page. This September 24th I'll be running the Hever Castle Marathon. I am looking to raise funds for The Bike Project, an amazing cause that's doing invaluable work for refugees in the UK.
🚲 💨

So who are The Bike Project?

The Bike Project collects unwanted bikes, fixes them up, and donates them to refugees.

After fleeing persecution, a person seeking asylum in the UK is forbidden from working and forced to live on £6 a day. Those who receive refugee status are still some of the hardest hit by austerity, rising inflation, and the hostile environment.

At the same time, there are an estimated 38 million unused bikes in the UK.That's why we do what we do!

A bike is a free means to access vital services like education and healthcare. More than that, cycling can give independence, health, joy, and community.

What your fundraising does

£25
Could fund a cycle safety kit for a refugee: a helmet, high-vis vest, bike lock and lights

£40
Could pay for a cycling lesson for a refugee woman in our Pedal Power programme

£75
Could provide a refurbished bike for a child refugee

£150
Could provide a refurbished bike for a refugee adult

TLDR: I am running a marathon to raise funds for The Bike Project, who refurbish second-hand bicycles and provide them to refugees.

Thanks! 🌎🏃🚲💙

We refurbish second-hand bikes and donate them to refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. With some refugees surviving on as little as £8.86 per week, a bike serves as a vital tool to access essentials like food, healthcare and legal advice, build confidence and form part of a community.
