Story
As some of you may know, I am a member of the Board of Directors at SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young. This is a very personal and very important issue for me, and I'd like to thank you upfront for getting involved.
In this time of social distancing and societal change, together we are looking to share and spread the love within our community and beyond. And we need your help!
For many years, I used to make an annual trek to fundraise for SAY from my home in Chicago to our former Camp SAY location in North Carolina, a week-long 720-mile journey! As my family grew I had to hang up my handlebars but due to the tremendous need this year, I'm getting back in the saddle.
All funds will go towards Camp SAY and bringing a virtual Camp SAY to Chicago in the fall.
Camp SAY and SAY programs are a place where children who stutter can find each other, and learn that they are not alone. At SAY, these kids finally feel like they belong, like they don't have to held back by their stutter, and that their voice really matters.
As a person who stutters, I know how hard it can be to grow up with one and what these kids are going through. I'm very inspired by the confidence growing within them after joining the SAY family and their success as they grow into adulthood. To continue these outcomes, we need your support!
When I was growing up, I never heard it was okay to stutter and made it a lot harder to overcome. This is why I ride and support this organization and these kids. At a young age these kids are learning that their voices are beautiful, confident, and most importantly they are not alone.
Please give from the heart! Your gift goes a very long way at SAY. It's not a drop in the bucket here, it makes a huge impact.
It means a lot to me, and it means even more to these kids. Thank you for making a difference in a child's life.
