Hi all. I've posted a wee video blog to the www.biggestjourney.com blog. The training has begun. Thanks for the continued support.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in their life.
They say that the hardest part of any journey is taking the first step. This is an old adage that rings true in so many aspects of life be it business, social or romantic. It is especially true for those that are learning to cope with mental illness, whose first step is often accepting that something isn’t right and that they can seek help. Once taking that step, a long journey lies ahead.
After 18 years as a keen cyclist, taking on many personal endurance challenges and going through many emotional journeys of my own, I plan to take the first step on my biggest journey.
One the 19th June 2012 I will cycle 400 miles from Edinburgh to London, stopping and speaking at four different business breakfast meetings, over four days. My aim is to raise money for mental health charity Mind, as well as raise awareness of mental health issues and depression by sharing stories and experiences. I hope to contribute to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and aid others in taking the first steps of their own biggest journey.
