Story
I have been raising money for Macmillan on and off for 15 years and to date have raised in excess of £35000. I have a big birthday coming up next year and wanted to do something special to celebrate so after a lot of thought have signed up to go to Ecuador to do the "Avenue of Volcanoes" trek. This is a challenging trek, at altitude, through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes full of Andean culture. I began my fundraising for Macmillan in the Andes so seemed appropriate to return.
As if this wasn't enough I decided to up the ante and have booked to trek to the "Lost City" in Columbia in November 2020. To reach the 1200 ancient steps (yes 1200) that lead up to the city, we trek on steep, sometimes overgrown and muddy trails, through lush jungle and river valleys, crossing clear streams. En route we pass indigenous Kogui communities, descendants of those early builders; we sleep near these settlements in hammocks. It may all sound idyllic, but me in a hammock!
These two treks will require a lot of training and hard work. As always I will pay for my trip costs therefore 100% of any money you are kind enough to donate will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
