With an estimated 2.5 million people in the UK today who have been diagnosed with Cancer, it is expected that this number will continue to grow 3% year after year.
To put that into perspective, that is 4 million people living with cancer by the time we reach 2030. Working out to around 1,000 people diagnosed with cancer EVERY day by 2016.
I am sure all of us have had a loved one, a close friend or that someone who is close to us who has had or is still fighting the battle on what must feel like a horrendous and everlasting journey.
Macmillian offer help and support on that everlasting journey. From the moment of diagnosis, through to treatment and beyond, Macmillian offer that helping hand to get life back in control.
So call us crazy, call us mad and it is true maybe we did get this idea after couple of drinks or three, but that I guess makes it more of a challenge.
In November 2015, in our bid to raise money for Macmillian Cancer Support, we aim to run (we hope 99% percent but there maybe a little walk now and again - forgive us, please) the 26.2 miles of New York City in one the most famous and prestigous marathons of our world!
We have a huge target to reach but every pence of this funding helps Macmillian invest in:
- The services of Specialist Help of the dedicated professionals of Macmillian - Nurses, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Dieticians and many more.
- Information and Support Services - helping patients breakthrough the information barrier of understanding cancer and having a trusted advisor/professional to confide and rely upon.
- Financial Help for those patients whose diagnosis will push them into financial difficulty through the not being fit and able to do the normal things in life many of us take for granted.
Every little really does help and we are so incredibly grateful for your support.
