NEWS UPDATE

Bidborough Dragons battled to a creditable 4th place in an intensely hard-fought final at Bewl Water, Europe's biggest dragonboat event, on Saturday 13th September, setting 2 new personal best times and winning every heat along the way.

They returned to action the very next day to defend their crown as champions of the Tonbridge Dragonboat tournament. Despite aching limbs and creaking joints they set a new course record in round one and blasted their way to the final, again winning every heat. The final was an insane sprint with all 3 boats fighting neck and neck for the entire race. Finishing in a near dead heat, only 0.5 seconds separated all 3 teams - and despite many photos and videos appearing to indicate a Bidborough victory, we were awarded the bronze medal.

Completing 9 tough races over 2 days, Bidborough ended with a record of 7 wins and 2 finals yielding a 4th place and a bronze medal - all in all a good weekend's work

Bidborough Dragons were very touched to be presented with a special award for Inspirational Community Fundraising by Demelza earlier this year and we hope our recent efforts prove worthy of them again this year.
