Story
On 23rd April this year, I will be running the London Marathon in support of an amazing charity called Schoolreaders (https://www.schoolreaders.org/)
Growing up, I was privileged to have a wealth of support in learning to read, both in and out of school. Not everyone is in such a fortunate position, with many children needing support in progressing their reading.
Schoolreaders recruits volunteers to listen to children read in primary schools, focusing on schools with the greatest need. 95% of children supported by one of their volunteers improves their reading age.
The importance of the role that this charity plays is underpinned by research that shows that around a quarter of all children left primary school last year unable to read well. These children are at a disadvantage because they are unable to access their secondary education properly, and this has lifelong consequences.
To give an indication of just how far donations can go, just £30 will pay for one child to have a free reading session every week for a full academic year. Please donate to help get more volunteers into schools so that we can improve more children's reading to help give them a better future!
Thank you for your support!
