Story

As many of you are aware, my daughter Georgia Fry was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis at the end of August 2018; after months of tests and several stays in hospital! This is an extremely rare disease and around 50 people in the UK are diagnosed with this each year. It is currently making her very unwell and she is undergoing an intensive chemo therapy treatment for 12 months. She is currently an inpatient at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre on the Teenage cancer trust unit (Area 61), who are doing a great job at supporting her and our family! We would really like to give something back to say thank you for all of the support and care we have received so far along our journey, which is why we have created this page! Over the next few months there will be some fundraising events taking place to help raise money and this page will be the main place to donate!

Area 61 is a warm and welcoming safe place for patients and their family, and allows patients to be with other young people receiving similar treatment. They have a large social space (the Chat Room) where patients and their friends/relatives can meet and share experiences, provide support to each other or just unwind. There are facilities for gaming, films, pool, table football, sofas, a large dining area and a kitchen and importantly there is free WiFi throughout the Unit.

You really don’t realise how amazing and supportive these places/staff are until you are put in such a situation!
