Story

We are a group of Bedford Girls' School teachers and visiting music teachers who are entered into Class 150 at the Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.  This class involves performing a Grade 1 standard piece on an instrument the candidate has never played before September 2019 (or March 2020 for members of the Music department).  This year we would like people to sponsor us to take part in the class, taking on a new challenge and performing on 12th March at 6pm in the Harpur Suite at the Corn Exchange.

We are supporting Tibbs Dementia Foundation, which is a Bedford based charity who offer a wide range of activities which provide cognitive and physical stimulation, both for people in all stages of dementia and for those who support them.  One of these groups is called Music for Memory where people with dementia and their carers can sing, dance and laugh, with the added benefit of music aiding memory and communication.  This charity was selected due to strong connections between concert pianist and BGS VMT piano teacher, Lorraine Banning, who lost her husband to young onset dementia in 2012.
