The BGL Group wants to raise £3m for good causes by 2017, with a focus on poverty reduction. Our latest project focuses on clean water. 

Situated in South East Asia, between Thailand and Vietnam, Laos has a population of just under 7m - of whom 28% live below the poverty line.

In Laos, as with many developing countries, lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities is a serious problem. Diarrhoea is the second biggest killer of children under 5.

Aside from the health risks, the gruelling and time-consuming walk to collect fresh water (which takes on average 3 hours each day), limits educational opportunities and can endanger the girls and women who generally perform this task.
