Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to do this trek, because not only have I sadly lost friends to breast cancer, but I have also lost loved ones including my lovely Dad, my cousin and her daughter aged 13, to cancer. Walking is something that I enjoy, so it made sense to combine it wth raising as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. I will be doing the trek from 17 - 19 August, and will be walking about 22 miles in two days.
Breast cancer accounts for nearly 1 in 3 of all cancers in women
Every year 48,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with the disease, making it the most common cancer in the UK and leading cause of death for woman aged 34 to 54.
More than 1000 women die from the disease every month in the UK.
On a more positive note, more women than ever in the UK are surviving breast cancer thanks to better awareness, better screening and better treatments. None of this would be possible without the research carried out by Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Every penny counts:
£5 buys 100 microscope slides to halp scientists provide more tailored treatments for people with breast cancer in the future.
£10 buys blood sample containers to help scientists preserve samples in order to discover the causes of breast cancer.
£50 buys specialist chemicals to enable a scientist to carry out their experiments for one day.
