Our mum went into hospital on a Monday. On the Wednesday we were informed of her deteriorating.  It was to be  palliative care. On the Thursday the consultant informed us of the worse scenario and family needed to be contacted. The pearly gates were calling…miraculously you came round. To come  home from hospital on a rapid return on the Saturday in End of Life October 2022, given approximately 2weeks.  

During the time at home (9 weeks) with family, the team provided not only support to mum but us too, giving some hope and happiness during a very sad time in our lives. 

Defying the inevitable, Mum passed away on 21 December 2022 at 5:15pm  

Mum knew what she wanted and wouldn’t move her thinking for anyone! That was to die at our home with dignity. She gave her all…abundance of courageousness, incredible strength and a cracking sense of humour. Along with Plenty of one-liners to all which kept us amused and shocked at times!

Marie Curie is a wonderful organisation that is amazing and so needs our support to help all patients and their families…when available, night sitters were my saviour through extreme exhaustion  (because night time was the worst for mum)  to let me get some sleep and I knew she’d be safe in their hands!

Funding helps the hospices and nurses within the home. A very big thank you 😊
