Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. One Thursday in November last year, I received the phone call that was to change my world forever. In hospital for a procedure to relieve a deep veiin thrombosis, and my beautiful mum was told that she had a mass in her pancreas. Just two weeks later,  I sat between her and my dad as the doctor pointed to a diagram and showed us that, tragically, this silent and unrelenting disease was already in her liver too. Time became everything and my mum was the bravest lady I have ever had the honour to know. Words cannot describe how proud I remain. Sadly all the "pluck"  and love from us could not halt or change anything and my mum passed away in my arms at 7:45 am on Friday 10th April this year-exactly two months to the day before her 67th birthday. Our world ended that day. We have to carry on, just as so many others like us are doing. Wondering why the facts and figures for this type of cancer remain so catastrophic. Early detection is key and just not happening! I vowed to do all I could to ensure that a screening tool and better treatment and survival rates become fact more than just remaining fiction. 💜
