We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 25th October 2009 Dave and I will be running 10 miles round the streets of Portsmouth in the Great South Run.  This year I have decided to run for the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.  I chose this charity for two reasons.....

Firstly, in honour of my dad, Roger Thornton, who has spent many years working in hearing research.  He has helped to change many people's lives with his work on cochlear impants and neonatal screening for hearing loss, and I'm very proud of him.

Secondly, as most of you will know I am a sucker for dogs and so my other reason for supporting this charity is that many of the dogs selected and trained are rescue dogs.  So a rescue dog gets a new home and a deaf person gets a better quailty of life - everyone wins :-)

Please donate something if you can, any amount large or small is very welcome!  If you prefer to donate the old fashioned way just let me know, I have paper sponsor forms too.

And feel free to come and cheer me and Dave along on the 25th!

Thanks :-)

Beth xx
